You Am I play Irving Plaza in New York City, supporting the Goo Goo Dolls along with the Smoking Popes. Footage of these three songs has several times been aired on Rage on ABC TV. Presumably there exists further video from this show, but it is yet to surface. Irving Plaza in the Union Square district of New York has existed as a rock and alternative music venue on and off since the late '70s.
This performance of Purple Sneakers was also used as the basis for a promotional clip for the song's single release, with the studio version of the song dubbed over the live footage. For the promo clip some additional backstage and exterior footage was dropped in, presumably to spice it up a little - but it also allows for the live footage to be edited such that it more closely syncs with the commercial version of the song.
